Setaro Fine Instruments and Bows Inc. was founded by a group of experts in the artistic, financial and legal sectors who share a common passion for music. The name of the company is named after Maestro Giovanni Setaroas an acknowledgement for his professional collaboration and great compassionate contribution that influenced us to follow our passion for music for the fine stringed instruments.

It is crucial for our company to share his experience with the public and relay over his knowledgable words- a source of inspiration that made our dreams of  creating this company into our reality.

Maestro Giovanni Setaro first trained as a musician then later extended his skills and knowledge set into understanding the art of building and restoring fine stringed instruments.
Thanks to his dual knowledge of music and the instrument, he has become a point of reference for many musicians to seek his expertise to modulate and perfectly tailor the sound of each instrument.

“The search of sound has accompanied my studies as soon as I’ve approached the violin.
The primordial “open strings” were the prelude to the nascent passion for a sound rich in harmonics and color.
Any musician, who has reached a technical level that allows him to express emotions enclosed in the most intimate part of the soul, tries to push his instrument beyond its structural possibilities. To widen the range of sounds or to make a virtuosic passage clearer, it is necessary that the instrument has the right characteristics and that it is in its optimal condition to create beautiful music.

My passion for the art of violin making and for the search of a correct “tuning” arises from the need to find the perfect balance that would freely allow me to express my abilities and also enhance the qualities of my violin, a fine Pressenda.

The combination of studying in the great Lutherie’s schools, the arching of the violin and of the thickness of the wood are all components  is so important for my studies and for the search of sound.

It’s like this that began my frantic search of fine instruments, between history and tradition, colors and flames, constantly immersed in the world of violin making, aware of the fact that without Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, I wouldn’t found the sense of my way”.
